With authors galore and hundreds of thousands of book titles, the Book Fair is a huge whirlwind of literary activity. At the same time, there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes at publishers’ stands that make the Book Fair indispensible – specifically, international and cross-industry rights and licensing deals for content.
In addition to the traditional rights business, e.g. acquiring titles for translation, licensing audio book adaptations, etc., the business conducted at the Frankfurt Book Fair is also increasingly focused on maximising the crossmedia value of content, projects and book characters – and licensing brands for publishing products.
With a programme geared toward anyone involved in the merchandising and licensing business from publishing houses, licensing agencies and media production companies, we were is specifically addressing the growing number of trade visitors from this branch of the business. With its first Licensing & Merchandising Day on the Friday of the Book Fair, we actively brought together the book and licensing industries for the first time.
