The entire spectrum of an impressive art
Since its launch in 2000, the Comics Centre in Hall 3.0 J 807 has become one of the really big attractions for the Frankfurt Book Fair public.
With its exhibitions, reading corner with several thousand titles, info-point, café, comics collective stand and, of course, the forum for events, the Comics Centre is the ideal meeting place for all fans of colour and black-and-white pictures, staying true to its motto that “the comics subject group may be small compared to the Book Fair as a whole, but it’s all the louder to make up for it”.
Trade visitors and fans alike can immerse themselves in a fascinating world that turns out to be full of surprises, especially as numerous publishing companies and exhibitors from all the relevant comic-producing countries are grouped around the Comics Centre with their latest publications.
Fans and readers choose their favourites in five categories for the most important readers’ choice award on the German comic scene.
Every year, the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Hamburg Carlsen Verlag present the “German Cartoon Prize” to hopeful talents and newcomers.
The holding of the “German Cosplay Championship” is an absolute highlight on the Sunday at the Book Fair. The imaginatively and artistically clad cosplayers have long since become a firm – colourful – feature at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
We are delighted that this year, in cooperation with Panini Verlag in Stuttgart, we will be presenting some highly yellow guests. To guarantee a fitting reception for the Simpsons stars, we have joined forces with Panini to launch the “Springfield is everywhere!” promotion – and we need your help.
As always, “Fascination Comics” provides a wide-ranging overview of what’s happening now on the comics scene. Be it in talks and interviews, at signing sessions and workshops, activities and events: trade visitors, the press and fans are offered an impressive mix of topics.
From the start, “Fascination Comics” has been a meeting place for top international and national artists. This year once again, a great many stars will be in place in the Comics Centre, sure to attract long queues to the signing tables.
