International Librarians

Always something new to discover – the world of libraries and information services

The developments set in motion by digitisation and new information technologies are a key issue throughout the entire book and media industry. The library and information sector is also undergoing radical change.

The Frankfurt Book Fair provides the ideal platform to support you in exploring these new horizons and in finding the right partners for business relations.

International Library Centre (ILC)

Where can librarians, publishers and information specialists get together for undisturbed conversation in a relaxed atmosphere?

The International Library Centre (ILC) has long since established itself as a working centre and meeting place for international librarians, publishers and information specialists. The number of agencies with a permanent workspace in the ILC is growing year on year. The restful atmosphere in the cafeteria provides an opportunity to meet up with business partners or get to know new contacts over a cup of coffee.

Specialist book exhibition

The specialist book exhibition “Information and Communication” organised by the Frankfurt am Main University Library, provide a representative overview and attracts the interested professional public. The library gives every year a widely diverse overview of the specialist literature of the previous two years as well as catalogue data for the specialist book exhibitions since 2003.

B.I.T. Sofa

Are traditional libraries a thing of the past?
The future of traditional libraries is being put into question more than ever before. Which role do libraries play in the era of the World Wide Web, in this age of information? Which skills and capabilities does the »Librarian 2.0« need? What will modern library management entail? These topics were debated on the B.I.T. sofa. A photo gallery and more information can be found at B.I.T. online.

Online databases

Noah’s Ark of Remembrance

Frankfurt am Main University Library’s digitisation projects for Jewish studies in the German-speaking world

In cooperation with the Judaica Department at the Frankfurt am Main University Library, the Frankfurt Book Fair introduced three online databases in the International Library Centre (ILC). These represent a uniquely comprehensive collection of sources in the field of Jewish studies and offer the international academic community direct access to indispensable research material.
