About the German Book Office (GBO) New York The GBO is part of the Frankfurt Book Fair and promotes German Books for translation as well as Frankfurt Book Fair activities. The GBO is co-funded by the German Foreign Office.

New Books in German is an independent magazine that recommends contemporary unstranslated books from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and an excellent resource for American editors.
NBG features fiction, nonfiction and children's books. Fiction titles by German authors are collaboratively selected by a UK based jury as well as by the GBO and a US based jury, consisting of colleagues from the Goethe-Institut New York and Chicago and professionals with the Amreican publishing industry. Explore the literary landscape of German YA and children's book publishing from June 10-16, 2012 with the GBO annual editor's trip!
The group will visit two German cities, Hamburg and Frankfurt, where participants will meet with German editors, publishers, and rights directors. We will also discuss trends in German children's books and children's publishing.
