There is no separate compilation or entry for the book trade in the statistics for industrial production and domestic trade. For its part, the Egyptian Publishers’ Association does not record any data either. Sales can only estimated indirectly on the basis of information from the print industry, private household expenditure and in connection with government spending. A volume of around 204 million US $ is calculated for the year.
